1% Smarter ("the App") is developed and operated by a solo independent developer. This privacy policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and your rights as a user.
Information We Collect
The App collects minimal data necessary to function. On-device, the App stores your selected topics, notification schedule preferences, facts reading history, quiz results, points, and streaks. This data is stored locally on your device using standard iOS mechanisms and is never sold or shared with third parties.
The App uses Google Firebase Firestore solely to sync the pool of available facts from the cloud to your device. This sync is one-directional — we pull facts down to your device. No personal information, usage data, or user-generated content is uploaded to Firebase or any external server.
The App does not collect your name, email address, phone number, location, payment information, or any personally identifiable information. The App does not require an account or login of any kind.
Push Notifications
The App uses local push notifications scheduled entirely on your device. These notifications are generated and delivered by iOS itself — they do not pass through any external server. No notification content or interaction data leaves your device.
Third-Party Services
The App integrates Google Firebase Firestore for cloud fact delivery. Firebase may collect certain device-level diagnostic data as part of its standard SDK operation. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy for details on how Google handles this data.
The App does not integrate any advertising SDKs, analytics platforms, tracking tools, or third-party data brokers.
Data Retention and Deletion
All user data including your preferences, reading history, quiz results, and progress is stored locally on your device. You can delete all app data at any time by uninstalling the App from your device. We do not retain any data on external servers that is tied to you personally.
Children's Privacy
The App is rated 4+ and contains no content inappropriate for any age. The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. Since the App collects no personal information from any user, it is compliant with COPPA by design.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with an updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
